I. THE BELIEVER'S POSITION IN MASHIACH (Chaps. 1-3)
1:1
Paulos, Shlichim of Yehoshua
(יהושע) Mashiach by b'ratzon Elohim, To
the Set-apart Ones who are in Ephesos, and faithful in Mashiach
Yehoshua
(יהושע):
1:2
Grace be to you, and shalom, from Elohim Avinu, and
from Adonay Yehoshua
(יהושע) Mashiach.
1:3
Baruch be Elohim and AVI Adoneinu Yehoshua
(יהושע) Mashiach,
who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places in Mashiach:
1:4
According as He has chosen us in Him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be Set-Apart and
blameless before Him in love:
1:5
Having yi'ud merosh (predestinated) us
to adoption as sons by Yehoshua
(יהושע) Mashiach to
Himself, according to the good pleasure of His ratzon (will),
1:6 To the praise of His glorious grace that
He favored us with in the Beloved.
1:7
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;
1:8
that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
1:9
He made known to us the mystery of His
will, according to His good pleasure that He planned in Him
1:10
for an administration of the fullness of times. He might gather together in one all things in Mashiach both things in heaven and things
on earth in Him.
1:11In Him also we have obtained an inheritance,
being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things
according to the counsel of His will,
1:12
That we should be to the praise of His Kavod, who first
trusted in Mashiach.
1:13
In whom you also trusted, after that you heard the Dvar of
truth, the Good News of your Yeshu'ah: in whom also after that you
believed, you were sealed with that Ruach haKodesh of promise,
1:14
who is the guarantee of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
1:15
Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in Adonay
Yehoshua
(יהושע), and love for all the Set-Apart
Ones,
1:16
I never stop giving thanks for you as I remember
you in my tefillot (prayers).
1:17
I pray that Elohim Adoneinu Yehoshua
(יהושע),
the glorious Father, would give you a ruach of wisdom and revelation in
the knowledge of Him.
1:18
I pray that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling,
what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the Set-Apart Ones,
1:19
and what
is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us
who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
1:20
which He worked in Mashiach when
He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in
the heavenly places,
1:21
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world,
but also in that which is to come:
1:22
And has put all things under His feet, and gave Him to
be the head over all things to the Assembly ,
1:23
Which is His body, the fulness of Him that fills all in
all.
Read the portion scripture of Ephesios
Acts 19:28, 34, 35
"Ephesios " is the Greek word for "Ephesians," which is the name of a book in the Brit Hadashah of the Scripture. The Ministries Letters of Ephesians was written by the Rav Shaul Sholiach to the Assembly in Ephesios, a city in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), around 60 AD. It contains teachings on the nature of the Assembly, the role of Mashiach as head of the Assembly, and the spiritual blessings that believers receive in Mashiach. The Letters is notable for its emphasis on unity within the Assembly and the importance of living a life worthy of the calling to which believers have been called
Paulos - Meaning small, whereas Shaul (his Hebr. name) means asked for. He was a Yehudi of the tribe of Benyamin, born in the Greek city of Tarsus in Cilicia, who inherited Roman citizenship (Acts 22:28-29). Paulos was well acquainted with the three great nationalities of the Roman Empire and was providentially prepared for his apostolic mission among the Yehudim, the Greeks, and the non-Greeks,
who were then called barbarians.
Under the instruction of Gamaliel, a distinguished rabbi at Yerushalayim (Acts 5:34), Paulos became a master of the Torah (Acts 22:3; Galates 1:14). Paulos was also a tentmaker, a trade that he performed so that he could support himself (Acts 18:3; 1 Korintos 4:12; 1 Korintos 9:18).
