7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting set apartness in the fear of Elohim (אלהים) .

7:2 Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

7:3 I speak not [this] to condemn [you]: for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die and live with [you].

7:4 Great [is] my boldness of speech toward you, great [is] my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

7:5 For, when we were come into Makedonía, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without [were] fightings, within [were] fears.

7:6 Nevertheless Elohim (אלהים) , that comforts those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titos;

7:7 And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same letter has made you sorry, though [it were] but for a season.

7:9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: for you were made sorry after a godly manner, that you might receive damage by us in nothing.

7:10 For the broken hearted nefesh that is according to Elohim (אלהים) causes Teshuvah to Yeshu'at Eloheinu, not to be regretted, but broken hearted nefesh of the Olam Hazeh produce death.

7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that you sorrowed after a broken hearted nefesh sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, [what] clearing of yourselves, yea, [what] indignation, yea, [what] fear, yea, [what] earnest desire, yea, [what] zeal, yea, [what] revenge! In all [things] you have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

7:12 Wherefore, though I wrote to you, [I did it] not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of Elohim (אלהים) might appear to you.

7:13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titos, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

7:14 For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which [I made] before Titos, is found a truth.

7:15 And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him.

7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all [things].

Títos; Titos, a Goyim who was probably converted to Messianic under the proclaiming of Paulos (Tit_1:4). Paulos did not subject him to the rite of circumcision, although some have inferred he was strongly urged to do so (Gal_2:3-5). Titos was the companion of Paulos in many of his trials and missionary journeys (2Co_7:6, 2Co_7:13-14; 2Co_8:6, 2Co_8:16, 2Co_8:23; Gal_2:1, Gal_2:3) and was entrusted with several important commissions (2Co_12:18; 2Ti_4:10; Tit_1:5). He was sent by Paulos to Dalmatia (2Ti_4:10) and was left in Krete to establish and regulate the Assemblies (Tit_1:5). Tradition relates that he was elder of Krete, and died there at the age of ninety-two. Paulos calls him his brother (2Co_2:13) and wrote a letter to him instructing regarding the proper discharge of his ministerial offices in Krete, a difficult field due to the character of the inhabitants who were noted for lying, idleness, and gluttony (Tit_1:12). The letter was probably written from Asia Minor in the year A.D. 65 when Paulos was on his way to Nikópolis .
