2:1 My achim (Brethren), show no partiality as you hold the faith in Adoneinu Yehoshua (יהושע) Mashiach, of glory.

2:2 For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes,

2:3 And you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool,"

2:4 Have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren:

Has Elohim (אלהים) not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

2:6 But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which you are called?

2:8 If you fulfil the royal Torah according to the scripture:

Kiv-Int-link.gifThou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, you do well:

2:9 But if you have respect to person, you commit sin, and are convinced of the Torah as transgressors.

2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole Torah, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.

2:11 For He that said:

Do not commit adultery, said also,

Do not kill.

Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the Torah.

2:12 So speak you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the Torah of liberty.

2:13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

2:14 What does it profit, my achim (Brethren), if someone say he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

2:15 If a Achi (brother) or Achot (sister) be naked, and destitute of daily food,

2:16 And one of you say to them,

"Depart in shalom, be warmed and filled; but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

2:17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

2:19 You believe that there is one Elohim (אלהים); You do well, Even the demons believe - and tremble!

2:20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

2:21 Was not Avraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Yitzchak his son upon the altar?

2:22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by means of his works faith was made perfect?

2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says:

"Avraham believed Elohim (אלהים), and it was accounted to him for tzedakah"And he was called a Friend of Elohim (אלהים).

2:24 You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

2:25 Likewise also was not Rahav the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent [them] out another way?

2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
