The Journey in the Wilderness from Kadesh to Heshvon
2:1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Yam Suf, as ADONAI (יהוה) spoke to me: and we compassed mount Se'ir yamim rabbim (for many days).
And ADONAI spoke to me, saying:
2:3 You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn Northward.
2:4 And command the people, saying:
You will pass through the territory of your brethren children of Esav, which live in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: So be very careful.
2:5 Do not provoke them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not even as little as a footstep; because I have given mount Seir to Esav [for] a possession.
2:6 You shall buy food of them for money, that you may eat; and you shall also buy mayim of them for money, that you may drink.
2:7 For ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha has blessed you in all the works of your hand: he knows your walking through this great wilderness: these arba'im shanah (forty years) ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha [has been] with you; you have lacked nothing.
2:8 And when we passed by from our brethren children of Esav, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the Arabah (plain) from Eilat, and from Etzyon-Gever, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moav.
2:9 And ADONAI (יהוה) said to me:
Distress not the Moavites, neither provoke with them in milchamah (war): for I will not give you of their land [for] a possession; because I have given Ar (a city) to children of Lot [for] a possession.
2:10 The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim (long neck);
2:11 Which also were accounted Refayim (giants), as the Anakim (long neck); but the Moavites call them Emim.
2:12 The Horim also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but children of Esav succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their place; just as Yisrael did to the land his possession, which ADONAI (יהוה) gave to them.
2:13 Now rise up, [said I], and get you over the vadi Zered. And we went over the vadi (brook) Zered.
2:14 And the space in which we came from Kadesh Barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, [was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as ADONAI (יהוה) swore to them.
2:15 For indeed the hand of ADONAI (יהוה) was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
2:16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
2:17 That ADONAI spoke to me, saying:
2:18 You art to pass over through Ar (a city), the coast of Moav, this day:
2:19 And [when] you comest nigh over against children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give you of the land children of Ammon [any] possession; because I have given it to children of Lot [for] a possession.
2:20 (That also was accounted a land Refayim: Refayim (giants) dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzom;
2:21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim (long neck); but ADONAI (יהוה) destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
2:22 Just as he did to children of Esav, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Hori from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even to this day:
2:23 And the Avim which dwelt in Hatzerim (Yishmaelite villagers), [even] to Azzah, the Kaftorim, which came forth out of Kaphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
2:24 Kum (Rise up), take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: see, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to yaresh (possess) [it], and contend with him in milchamah (war):
2:25 This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you upon the goyim (nations) [that are] under the whole shamayim, who shall hear report of you, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of you.
2:26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemot to Sihon king of Heshbon with divrei shalom, saying,
2:27 Let me pass through your land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.
2:28 you shall sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me mayim for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
2:29 (As children of Esav which dwell in Seir, and the Moavites which dwell in Ar (a city), did to me;) until I shall pass over Yarden into the land which ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheinu giveth us.
2:30 But Sihon king of Heshvon would not let us pass by him: for ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as [appeareth] this day.
And ADONAI (יהוה) said to me:
Reeh, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before you: begin to yaresh (possess), that you may inherit his land.
2:32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Yahaz.
2:33 And ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheinu delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his banav, and all his people.
2:34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
2:35 Only the cattle we took for a plunder to ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
2:36 From Aroer, which [is] by the brink of the river of Arnon, and [from] the city that [is] by the river, even to Gil'ad, there was not one city too strong for us:
ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheinu delivered all to us:
2:37 Only to the land children of Ammon you camest not, [nor] to any place of the River Yabbok, nor to the cities in the mountains, nor to whatsoever ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheinu forbad us.

Devarim 2:9 And ADONAI (יהוה) said to me, Distress not the Moavites, neither provoke with them in milchamah (war): for I will not give you of their land [for] a possession; because I have given Ar (a city) to children of Lot [for] a possession.
Moav - Moab - bawm Barasheet 19:37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moav: the same is the father of the Moavites to this day. Moab = "of his father" Semites; a son of Lot by his eldest daughter; the nation descended from the son of Lot; the land inhabited by the descendants of the son of Lot
