2:1 And now, O ye Kohenim, this mitzvah [is] for you.
2:2 If ye will not shema, and if ye will not lay [it] to lev, to give kavod to My Name, said ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot, I will even send a meerah (curse) upon you, and I will meerah your berakah: yea, I have me'erah them already, because ye do not lay [it] to lev.
2:3 Hinnei, I will corrupt your zera, and spread dung upon your faces, [even] the dung of your solemn feasts; and [one] shall take you away with it.
2:4 And ye shall know that I have sent this mitzvah to you, that My Brit might be with Levy, said ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot.
2:5 My Brit was with him chayim and Shalom; and I gave them to him [for] the fear wherewith he feared Me, and was afraid before My Name.
2:6 The Torah Emet was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he halak with Me in shalom and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
2:7 For the kohen's lips should keep daat, and they should seek the Torah at his mouth: for he [is] the messenger of ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot.
2:8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the Torah; ye have corrupted the Brit Levy, said ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot.
2:9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not Shomer My Derek, but have been partial in the Torah.
2:10 Have we not all avi echad? hath not EL ECHAD created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the Brit our fathers?
2:11 Yehudah hath dealt treacherously, and an to'evah (abomination) is committed in Yisrael and in Yerushalayim; for Yehudah hath profaned the Kodesh ADONAI (יהוה) which he ahavah, and hath married the daughter of a strange Elohim (אֹלִהי).
2:12 ADONAI (יהוה) will Karat the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the ohel of Ya'akov, and him that offers minchah to ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot.
2:13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of ADONAI (יהוה) with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regards not the minchah any more, or receiveth [it] with good will at your hand.
2:14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because ADONAI (יהוה) hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet [is] she thy companion, and the wife of thy Brit.
2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the ruach. And wherefore echad? That he might seek a Elohim (אֹלִהי) zera. Therefore take heed to your ruach, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
2:16 For ADONAI (יהוה), the Elohim (אֹלִהי) of Yisrael, said that he hateth putting away: for [one] covereth violence with his garment, said ADONAI (יהוה) Tzava'ot: therefore take heed to your ruach, that ye deal not treacherously.
2:17 Ye have wearied ADONAI (יהוה) with your davar. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied [him]? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil [is] good in the sight of ADONAI (יהוה), and he delighteth in them; or, Where [is] the Elohim (אֹלִהי) mishpat?
