2:1 And He said unto me:
Ben Adam, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.
2:2 And the spirit entered into me when He spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard Him that spake unto me.
2:3 And He said unto me:
Ben Adam, I send thee to the Benai Yisrael, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against Me:
they and their avot have transgressed against Me, [even] unto this very day.
2:4 For [they are] impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them,
Thus saith Adonay (אדני) YHWH (יהוה).
2:5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they [are] a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a Navi among them.
2:6 And thou, Ben Adam, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns [be] with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they [be] a rebellious house.
2:7 And thou shalt speak My Devarim unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they [are] most rebellious.
2:8 But thou, Ben Adam, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house; open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
2:9 And when I looked, Hinnei, an hand [was] sent unto me; and, Behold, a megillah of a book [was] therein;
2:10 And He spread it before me; and it [was] written within and without: and [there was] written therein lamentations, and moaning, and woe.
2:1 Ben Adam (son of man) this phrase had occurred 93 times in 93 verses, This expression "son of man" is common semitic way of indicating an individual man (eg Ps 4:2; 57:4; 58:1; 144:3; Jer. 49:18,33; 50:40; 51:43) It emphasizes his humanity in his Hashem given role as a spokesman for Hashem. the meaning of the phrase is "human one"
2:6 briers and thorns... Scorpions. These are images portray the nature of the rebblious opponents of Yechezkiel's warning.
