3:1 This second letter, beloved, I now write to you; in [both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
3:2 That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the set apart Neviim, and of the commandment of us the Shlichim of Adonay and Moshi'a:
3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own ta'avah (lust),
3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.
3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of Elohim the Shamayim were of old, and the eretz standing out of the mayim and in the water:
3:6 Whereby the Olam Hazeh that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
3:7 But the Shamayim and the eretz, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved to fire against ha Yom HA DIN and perdition of wicked men.
3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with ADONAI as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
3:9 ADONAI is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3:10 But ha Yom ADONAI will come as a thief in the night; in the which the Shamayim shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the eretz also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
ve'atah im-kol-'eleh yamugu mah-me'od aleichem lehit'halech bikdushah uvachasidut.
Since everything is going to be destroyed like this:
What kind of people should you be?
You should walk in kedushah (Set apart) and chasidus (piety) lives.
ulechakot leyYom-Adonai sheyavo ulehachish oto asher bo hashamayim yamugu va'esh vehaysodot yevo'aru venamasu.
Awaiting for and hastening the coming Day of Adonai, because of which the heavens will be set on fire, will be destroyed and the elements burning up .
va'anachnu kefi havtachato mechakim leShamayim chadashim ule'eretz chadashah asher-tzedek yalin bam.
But according to His promise, we await for new heavens and a new earth, in which haTzedakah dwells.
3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in shalom, without spot, and blameless.
3:15 And account [that] the longsuffering of Adoneinu [is] salvation; even as our beloved brother Shaul also according to the wisdom given to him has written to you;
3:16 As also in all [his] letters, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
3:17 You therefore, beloved, seeing you know [these things] before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
3:18 But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of Adoneinu and Moshi'a Yehoshua (יהושע) Mashiach. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amein.
