The Letter from Yehudah (Ἰουδάς - יְהוּדָה) / Jude Chapter 1
Yehudah chapter 1 Messianic Jewish Perspective
SUMMARY OVERVIEW: THE IGGERET MASHIACH THROUGH YEHUDAH
(James 1:1)
1:1¶
Yehudah, a bond-Servant of Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) HaMashiach, and brother of Ya'akov,[Luke 6:16; Acts 1:13] [Matt. 13:55; Mark 6:3].
To them that are sanctified by Elohim (אלהים) Ha AVI, and preserved in Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) HaMashiach. (John 7:5; Mark 3:21, 6:4)
1:2 Rachamim to you, and Shalom, and ahavah, be multiplied.
1:3 ¶ Yedidim, when I was making every effort to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt the neccessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the emunah that was once for all time handed down to the Kiddushim.
1:4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this harsha'ah anshei resha twisting the Grace of Eloheinu into a license for sensual self-indulgence and deny our only Master and Adonai Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) Mashiach.

Historical Type |
The Sin Committed |
The Judgement Executed |
|
The Wilderness Generation |
Lacked emunah (trust/faith) after witnessing miracles. |
Destroyed in the desert, barred from the Land. |
|
The Fallen Angels |
Left their proper, divinely assigned sphere of authority. |
Kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains. |
|
S'dom and Amora |
Engaged in severe sexual sins and unnatural perversions. |
Exposed as a warning of everlasting fire. |
1:5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that Adonai, having saved the people out of the Eretz Mitzrayim (Egypt), afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
1:6 And the malachim who did not keep their own memshalah (domain) but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal restraints under darkeness for the Mishpat on Yom HaGadol.
1:7 Even as Sedom and Amora, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
1:8 ¶ Likewise also these [filthy] dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak ra'ah of dignities.
1:9 Yet Mika'el the chief Malak, when he disputed with haSatan and argued about the geviyyat Moshe, dared not bring against him a slanderous judgment, but said "Yit'ga'ar Adonai becha"Adonai rebuke you!"
1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they do not know; but what they know by nature as animals without reason, in those things they corrupt themselves.
1:11
Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Kayin, and for pay they have given themselves up to the error of Bila'am, and perished in the rebellion of Korach.
The Six Vivid Metaphors of Deception (Verses 12–13)
1:12 These are the ones who are hidden reefs in your love feasts(Se‘udot Ahavah) when they feast with you without fear (Prov 9:10 b’lo yir’ah), like shepherds caring only for themselves; clouds without water (Ananim b'li Mayim), carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

1:13 wild waves of the sea, churning up their own shameful deeds like dirty foam(Yeshayahu 57:20); wandering stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been reserved forever.

1:14
Moreover, Hanokh, in the seventh generation starting with Adam, also prophesied about these men, saying, "Look! Adonai came with His myriads of Set-Apart Ones

1:15 ¶
To execute judgment against everyone, that is, to convict all the godless (ψυχὴν,psyche) for their godless (asebés) deeds which they have done in such a godless(asebés) way, and for all the harsh words these godless (asebés) sinners have spoken against him."
1:16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling [words], having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
Keep Yourselves in the Love of Elohim
1:17 But, Yedidim, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the Shlichim of Adoneinu Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) ha Mashiach;
1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should halak after their own wicked lusts.
1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
1:20 But you, Yedidim, building up yourselves on your kodesh kodeshim (most set apart) emunah, praying in Ruach ha Kodesh,
1:21 Keep yourselves in the Love of Elohim (אלהים), looking for the rachamim of Adoneinu Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) ha Mashiach to Chayim Olam.
1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
1:23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
1:24 Now to him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of His Kavod with exceeding joy,
1:25 To the only wise Elohim (אלהים) Moshieinu, [be] Kavod and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amein.
The letter of Yehudah was likely written around 65 C.E (AD). who was one of the half brother of Adonai Yeshua (Mattityahu 13:55; Mark 6:3); His message, one of the most severe in the Brit Hadashah was written due to apostasy in the early Assembly. Much Threatening were these heresies that the Ruach HaKodesh caused Yehudah to write this letter of warning, uring his readers to contend earnestly for the emunah (verse 3) because of the prevalence of the false teachers who had already intruded into the Assemblies.
