Ani ha gever raa oni be shevet ev ra to:

Ati nahag vayolakh choshekh ve lo-or:

Akh bi yashuv yahafokh yado kol-ha yom:

  A. The judgments of HaShem (3:1-18)

3:1 Ani ha gever (strong man) [that] has seen oni (affliction) by the shevet (rod) of HIS wrath.

3:2 He has led me, and brought [me into] darkness, but not [into] light.

3:3 Surely against me is He turned; he turns HIS yad (hand) [against me] all the day.

Bi la ve sa ri ve o ri shi bar ats mo tai:

Ba na a lai va ya kaf rosh u te la a:

Be ma kha sha kim ho shi va ni ke me tei o lam:

3:4 My basar (flesh) and my skin has He made balah (old); He has broken my etsem  (bones).

3:5 He has builded against me, and compassed [me] with gall and travail.

3:6 He has set me in dark places, as [they that be] dead of old.

Ga dar ba a di ve lo e tse hikh bid ne khash ti:

Gam kie zakva a shave a satam tefila ti:

Gadar derakh ai be gazit ne ti vo tai i va:

3:7 He has gadar (hedged) me about, that I cannot get out: he has made my chain heavy.

3:8 Also when I cry and shout, he shuts out my tefillah.

3:9 He has inclosed my ways with gaziyth (hewn stone), he has made my paths crooked.

Dov o rev hu li a ri a ri be mis ta rim:

De ra khai so rer va ye fash khe ni sa ma ni sho mem:

Da rakh kash to va ya tsi ve ni ka ma ta ra la khets:

3:10 He [was] to me [as] a dob (bear) lying in wait, [and as] a lion in secret places.

3:11 He has turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he has made me shamem (desolate).

3:12 He has bent HIS bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

He vi be khil yo tai benei ash pa to:

Ha yi ti sekhok le khol-ami negina tam kol-ha yom:

His bi a ni vam ro rim hir va ni laana:

3:13 He has caused the arrows of HIS quiver to enter into my reins.

3:14 I was a derision to all my people; [and] their song all the day.

3:15 He has filled me with marar (bitterness), he has made me drunken with laanah (wormwood).

Va yag res be kha tsats shi nai hikh pi sha ni ba e fer:

Va tiz nakh mi sha lom naf shi na shi ti to va:

Va o mar a vad nits khi ve to khal ti mei ho va:

3:16 He has also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he has covered me with ashes.

3:17 And you have zanach (rejected) my nefesh far off from shalom: I forgat prosperity.

3:18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from ADONAI (יהוה):

Ze khar-an yi u me ru di laana va rosh:

Zakhor tiz kor ve ta shoi akh ve ta sho akh a lai naf shi:

Zot a shiv el-li bi al-ken o khil:

B. The mercies of Hashem (3:19-39)

3:19  Zakar mine oni and my wandering, the laanah (wormwood) and the bitterness.

3:20 My nefesh has [them] still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

3:21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I yachal (waited).

Khas dei ADONAI ki lo-tam nu ki lo-kha lu ra kha mav:

Kha da shim lab ka rim ra baH emunatekha:

Khel ki yehova am ra naf shi al-ken o khil lo:

3:22   Through ADONAI's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.

3:23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

3:24 "ADONAI is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!"

Tov yehova le ko av le nefesh tid re she nu:

Tov ve ya khil ve du mam lit shu at yehova:

Tov la ge ver ki-yi sa ol bin u rav:

3:25 ADONAI (יהוה) [is] Tov (good) to them that wait for him, to the nefesh [that] seeketh him.

3:26 [It is] good that [a man] should both tikvah and quietly wait for the teshuah (deliverance, salvation) of ADONAI (יהוה).

3:27 [It is] good for a man that he bear the yoke (עול) in his youth.

Ye shev ba dad ve yi dom ki na tal a lav:

Yi ten be a far pi hu u lai yesh tik va:

Yi ten le ma ke hu le khi yis ba be kher pa:

3:28 He yashav (sits) alone and keeps silence, because he has borne [it] upon him.

3:29 He putteth HIS mouth in the dust; if so be there may be tikvah (hope).

3:30 He gives [his] cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

Ki lo yiz nakh le o lam a do nai:

Ki im-ho ga ve ri kham ke rov kha sa dav kha sa dav:

Ki lo i na mi li bo va ya ge be nei-ish:

3:31 Ki lo (not) yi zanach (reject) leOlam *ADONAI (יהוה):

3:32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of HIS chesed (lovingkindness).

3:33 For he does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Le da ke ta khat rag lav kol a si rei a rets:

Le ha tot mish pat-ga ver ne ged pe nei el yon:

Le a vet a dam be ri vo a do nai lo ra a:

3:34 Le deka (crush) under HIS feet all the prisoners of haeretz,

3:35 To turn aside the right of a man before  ha panim Elyon,

3:36 To subvert a man in HIS cause, *ADONAI (יהוה) approveth not.

Mi ze a mar va te hi a do nai lo tsi va:

Mi pi elyon lo te tse ha ra ot ve ha tov:

Ma-yit o nen a dam khai ge ver al-kha ta av kha ta av:

3:37 Who (Mi) [is] he [that] said, and it comes to pass, [when] *ADONAI (יהוה) commands [it] not?

3:38 Out of the mouth of the Elyon proceeds not ra (evil) and tov (good)?

3:39 Wherefore does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of HIS sins?

Nakh pe sa de ra khei nu ve nakh ko ra ve na shu va ad-ye ho va:

Ni sa le va ve nu el-ka pa yim el-el ba sha ma yim:

Nakh nu fa sha nu u ma ri nu a ta lo sa lakh ta:

C. The call for Spiritual Renewal (3:40-42)

3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to ADONAI (יהוה).

3:41 Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands to EL in the shamayim.

3:42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: you have not pardoned.

Sa ko ta va af va tir de fe nu ha rag ta lo kha mal ta:

Sa ko ta ve a nan lakh me a vor te fi la:

Se khi u ma os te si me nu be ke rev ha a mim:

D. The Sorrow of Yermeyahu over Yerushalayim (3:43-51)

3:43 Thou have covered with anger, and persecuted us: you have slain, you have not pitied.

3:44 Thou have covered yourself with a cloud, that [our] tefillah should not pass through.

3:45 Thou have made us [as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

Pa tsu a lei nu pi hem kol-oi vei nu:

Pa khad va fa khasa ya la nu ha shet ve ha sha ver:

Pal gei-ma yim te rad ei ni al-she ver bat-ami:

3:46 All our enemies have patzah (opened) their peh (mouths) against us.

3:47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

3:48 Mine eye runs down with rivers of water for the destruction of the bat my people.

Ei ni nig ra ve lo tid me me ein ha fu got:

ad-yash kif ve ye re ye ho va mi sha ma yim

Ei ni ol la le naf shi mi kol be not i ri:

3:49 Mine ayin (eye) trickles down, and ceases not, without any intermission,

3:50 Till ADONAI (יהוה) look down, and behold from shamayim.

3:51 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

Tzod tsa du ni ka tsi por oi vai khi nam:

Tzam tu va bor kha yai va ya du-e ven bi:

Tza fu-ma yim al-ro shi a mar ti nig zar ti:

3:52 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

3:53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

3:54 Waters flowed over mine head; [then] I said, I am cut off.

Kara ti shim kha yehova mi bor takh ti yot:

Ko li shama ta al-ta lem az ne kha le rav kha ti le shav a ti:

Karav ta be yom ek ra e ka amar ta altira:

3:55 I called upon Your Name, O ADONAI (יהוה), out of the low dungeon.

3:56 You have heard my voice: hide not your ear at my breathing, at my cry.

3:57 You drew near in the day [that] I called upon you: you said, Fear not.

Rav ta a do nai ri vei naf shi ga al ta kha yai:

Ra i ta ye ho va a va ta ti shaf ta mish pa ti:

Ra i ta kol-nik ma tam kol-makh she vo tam li:

3:58 O *ADONAI (יהוה), you have pleaded the causes of my nefesh; you have redeemed my life.

3:59 O ADONAI (יהוה), you have seen my wrong: judge you my cause.

3:60 You have seen all their vengeance [and] all their imagination against me.

Sha ma ta kher pa tam ye ho va kol-makh she vo tam a lai:

Sif tei ka mai ve heg yo nam a lai kol-ha yom:

Shiv tam ve ki ma tam ha bi ta a ni man gi na tam:

3:61 You have heard their reproach, O ADONAI (יהוה), [and] all their imaginations against me;

3:62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

3:63 Nabat (look) their sitting down, and their rising up; I [am] their manginah (song).

Ta shiv la hem ge mul ye ho va ke ma a se ye dei hem:

Ti ten la hem me gi nat-lev ta a lat kha la hem:

Tir dof be af ve tash mi dem mi ta khat she mei ye ho va:

3:64 Render to them a recompence, O ADONAI (יהוה), according to the work of their hands.

3:65 Give them sorrow of heart, your curse to them.

3:66 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the shamayim of ADONAI (יהוה).
