2:1 Therefore, putting aside all rishus, and all remiyah, and tzevi'ut, and kin'ah, and all lashon hara,

2:2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into Yeshu'at Eloheinu

2:3 If so be you have tasted that Adonay ki Tov.

(Yeshayahu 28:16; Tehillim 34:8; Ivrim 6:5)

2:4Kiv-Int-link.gifAnd coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of HaShem,

2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a set apart kehunah, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to HaShem through Yeshua (יֵשוּעַ) Mashiach.

2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture,

2:7 to you therefore which believe [he is] precious: but to them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, (Tehillim 118:22),

2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereto also they were appointed.

2:9 But you [are] a chosen generation, a royal kehunah, a set apart nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (shemot 19:6)

2:10 Which in time past [were] Lo Ami not a people, but [are] now the people of Elohim: which had not obtained rachamim, but now have obtained rachamim.

2:11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

2:12 Having your behaviour honest among the Goyim: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by [your] good works, which they shall Hinei, glorify Elohim in the Yom Pekuddah (פּקדּה day of visitation.) (Yeshayahu 10:3)

2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for Master's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

2:14 Or to governors, as to them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

2:15 For so is the will of Elohim, that with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

2:16 As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the avadim Elohim.

2:17 Honour all [men]. ahavah the brotherhood. Fear Elohim. Honour the king.

2:18 Avadim, be submissive to [your] masters with all respect; not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.

2:19 For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward HaShem a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.

2:20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with HaShem.

2:21 For even hereto were you called: because Mashiach also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps:

2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judges righteously:

2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to tzedek: by whose stripes you were healed.

2:25 For you were as sheep going astray; but are now made teshuvah to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
