10:1 And He arose went from there to the region of Yehudah, and beyond the Yarden and the people gathered around to Him again; and according to His custom, He taught them again.
10:2 And the Prushim came to Him, and asked Him:
Is it mutar (permissible) for a man to put away [his] wife? tempting Him.
10:3 And Yehoshua (יהושע) answered and said to them:
What did Mosheh command you?
10:4 And they said:
Mosheh suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away.
10:5 And Yehoshua (יהושע) answered and said to them:
For the hardness of your heart He wrote you this precept.
10:6 But from the beginning of the creation Elohim made them male and female.
10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
10:9 What therefore Elohim hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
10:10 And in the house His Talmidim asked Him again of the same [matter].
10:11 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to them:
Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
(Matt 19:13-15; Luke 18:15-17)
10:13 And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and [his] Talmidim rebuked those that brought [them].
10:14 But when Yehoshua (יהושע) saw [it], He was much displeased, and said to them,
Suffer the little children to come to Me,
and forbid them not: for of such is the Malkut Elohim.
10:15 Truly I say to you:
Whosoever shall not receive the Malkut Elohim as a little child, He shall not enter therein.
10:16 And He took them up in his arms, put [his] hands upon them, and blessed them.
10:17 And when He was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to Him, and asked Him, Good Teacher (didaskalos), what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
10:18 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to Him:
Why callest you Me good?
[there is] none good but one, [that is], Elohim.
10:19 You knowest the Mitzvot, (Aseret Hadiberot- Dekalogos)
Do not commit adultery,
Do not kill,
Do not steal,
Do not bear false witness,
Defraud not,
Honour your father and mother.
10:20 And he answered and said to Him,
Teacher (didaskalos), all these have I have shomer mitzvot from my youth.
10:21 Then Yehoshua (יהושע) beholding him loved him, and said to him, One thing you lackest: go your way, sell whatsoever you hast, and give to the poor, and you shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the stauros (stake), and follow Me.
10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
(Matt 19:23-30; Luke 18:24-30)
10:23 And Yehoshua (יהושע) looked round about, and said to His Talmidim, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the Malkut Elohim!
10:24 And the Talmidim were astonished at His words.
But Yehoshua (יהושע) answereth again, and said to them:
Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the Malkut Elohim!
10:25 It is easier for a gamla (large rope, camel, bestow) to go through the eye of a needle, than for a oisher (rich man) to enter into the Malkut Elohim.
10:26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
10:27 And Yehoshua (יהושע) looking upon them saith:
With men [it is] impossible, but not with Elohim: for with Elohim all things are possible.
10:28 Then Kefa began to say to Him, Behold, we have left all, and have followed you.
And Yehoshua (יהושע) answered and said:
Truly I say to you:
There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and the Good News,
10:30 But He shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, batim, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
10:31 But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last first.
10:32 And they were in the way going up to Yerushalayim; and Yehoshua (יהושע) went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And He took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen to Him,
10:33 [Saying], Behold, we go up to Yerushalayim; and Son of man shall be delivered to the Rashei Hakohanim , and to the Sofrim; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Goyim:
10:34 And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill him: and the third day He shall rise again.
10:35 And Yaakov and Yochanan Ben Zavadai, come to Him, saying:
Teacher (didaskalos), we would that you shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
10:36 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to them:
What would you that I should do for you?
10:37 They said to Him:
Grant to us that we may sit, one on your right hand, and the other on your left hand, in your glory.
But Yehoshua (יהושע) said to them:
you know not what you ask: can you drink of the cup that I drink of? and be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with?
10:39 And they said to Him:
We can.
And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to them:
you shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the immersion that I am immersed withal shall you be immersed:
10:40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but [it shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared.
10:41 And when the ten heard [it], they began to be much displeased with Yaakov and Yochanan.
10:42 But Yehoshua (יהושע) called them [to him], and said to them:
you know that they which are accounted to rule over the Goyim exercise masters over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
10:43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
10:45 For even Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
10:46 And they came to Yericho: and as He went out of Yericho with His Talmidim and a great number of people, blind Bar-Timai [Ben Timai], sat by the highway side begging.
10:47 And when He heard that it was Yehoshua (יהושע) ha Natzaret, He began to cry out, and say:
Yehoshua (יהושע), [you] Ben David, have mercy on me.
10:48 And many reproving Him that He should to be silent: but He cried the more a great deal, [You] Ben David, have mercy on me.
10:49 And Yehoshua (יהושע) stood still, and commanded Him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying to Him, Take courage, arise; He calleth you.
10:50 And He, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Yehoshua (יהושע).
10:51 And Yehoshua (יהושע) answered and said to him:
What wilt you that I should do to you?
The blind man said to Him:
Rabboni, that I might receive my sight.
10:52 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:
Go your way; your faith hath made you whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Yehoshua (יהושע) in the way.
