And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain: and when HE was set, His talmidim came to him:
5:2
And HE opened His mouth, and taught them, saying,
The
Ashrei (Luke
6:20-26)

Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of
the heaven.
5:4
Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5:5
Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
5:6
Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after
tzidkat: for they shall be filled.
5:7
Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
5:8
Blessed [are] the Lev
Tahor: for they shall see Elohim (אלהים).
5:9
Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
Benai Elohim (אלהים).
5:10
Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for tzidkat'
sake: for theirs is the malkut ha heaven.
5:11
Blessed are you, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute
[you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for My sake.
5:12
Simcha, and Lev sameach :
for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Atem melach ha'aretz ve'im-hamelach hayah tafel bameh yamelach hen lo-yitzlach od lakol ki im-lehashlich chutzah vehayah mirmas livnei ada
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt should lose its flavor, how shall it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
5:15
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and
it shines on everything in the house.
5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify
your Father in heaven.
Teaching
about the Torah
Al-tedamu ki vati lehafer et-haTorah o et-Divrei haNevi'im lo vati lehafer ki im-lemalt
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to complete.
Ki amen omer Ani lachem ad ki-ya'avru hashamayim veha'aretz lo ta'avor yod achat o-kotz echad min-haTorah ad asher yekyam hakol.
Amen, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud
( י
) or stroke will pass from the Torah -- not until everything that must
be accomplished.
5:19
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever keeps and teaches them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
5:20
For I say to you, That except your tzedek shall
exceed [the tzedek] of the Sofrim and Perushim, you
shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
How
to deal with Anger?
5:21
"You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not kill,'
and whoever kills will be liable to the judgment.
5:22
But I say to you that whoever gets angry with his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Empty-head!' will be liable to the council. But whoever says, ' fool!' will be liable to the Eish
Gehinnom.
5:23
Therefore if you offer your gift on the altar, and there you remember that
your brother has something against you,
*5:24
Leave your gift there before the altar, and go, first be reconciled
with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
5:25
Make friends with your adversary quickly, while you are on the
road with him, lest your adversary hand you over to the judge, and the judge
hand you over to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
5:26
Truly I say to you:
you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
Sin
Begins in the heart
5:27
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
5:28
But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman in order to lust after her
has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5:29
If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehinnom.
5:30
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you;
for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole
body to be cast into Gehinnom.
The
Issue on Divorce:
(Matt
19:9; Mark 10:11, 12; Luke 16:18; Rom 7:1-3; 1 Cor 7)
5:31
"Furthermore it has been said: 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give
her a "get" (sefer
Keritut)
5:32
"But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorcee commits adultery.
On
Making shevuot (Oath)
5:33
"Again you have heard that
it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not swear falsely, but you shall pay
your vows to Adonay.'
5:34
But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven;
for it is Elohim (אלהים)'s throne:
5:35
Nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by
Yerushalayim; for it is the city of the great King.
5:36
Nor shall you swear by your head,
because you are not able to make one hair white or black.
Let your Yes be simply Yes, and your No be simply No; anything more than that comes from the evil one.
Rabbi Judah said:"your 'yes shall be true, and your 'no' shall be true." - The Talmud tractate Bab Mezia 49
Retaliation
(Luke
6:29,30)
5:38
You have heard that it has been said,
An eye for an eye,
and a tooth for a tooth:
5:39
But
I say to you not to resist an evil person. But whoever shall slap you on your
right cheek, turn to him the other also.
5:40
If anyone wants to sue you and take your tunic, give to him also your kaftan.
5:41
And
whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
5:42
Give
to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
5:43
"You
have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and you shall hate
your enemy.'
5:44
But
I say to you, love
your enemies,
bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those
who mistreat you and persecute you,
5:45
so
that you may prove to be sons of your Father in heaven; because He makes His
sun rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and on the
unjust.
5:46
For
if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors
do the same?
5:47
And if you give drishat shalom only to Achim, what extraordinary thing are
you doing? Don't even the tax collectors do the same?
5:48
You
therefore be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Blessed one: The Greek word
for blessed is makarios which means fully satisfied, happy, joyful, in Hebrew is ashrei;
Blissfulness, that state of being marked by fullness - wholesome from YHVH; to be envied, and spiritually prosperous--with life-joy and satisfaction possessing the favor of Elohim (אלהים) and salvation.
5:3
Poor in Spirit (Matt
9:11-13; Rev 3:1,
17-18)Yeshayahu
66:2 helpless,
reduced to beggary, begging, asking alms
destitute of wealth, influence, position, honour
lowly, afflicted, destitute of the believer virtues and eternal riches
helpless, powerless to accomplish an end
poor, needy
lacking in anything
as respects their spirit
destitute of wealth of learning and intellectual culture which the
schools afford (men of this class most readily give themselves up to
Mashiach's teaching and proved them selves fitted to lay hold of the
heavenly treasure)
The poor in
spirit are those who acknowledge their own helplessness and rely on Elohin's
omnipotence. The sensed their spiritual need and find it supplied in Adonay.
5:4 Mourn Avelim (Rev 21;
Yeshayahu 61:2) Also godly sorrow which worketh true repentance, watchfulness, a humble
mind, and continual dependence for acceptance on the mercy of YHWH (יהוה) in
Mashiach Yeshua, with constant seeking the Ruach Hakodesh, to cleanse away
the remaining evil, seems here to be intended.
5.5
the meek (Anavim) shall inherit the earth (Yeshayahu 29:19).
The meek ones are those who takes Mashiach' spirit having the attributes of
becoming meek or gentle. The meek person is gentle and mild in His own cause,
though HE may be a lion in YHWH (יהוה)'s cause or standing the truth (Roman 7:24)
5.6
Those who hunger and thirst for Tzidkat
are those who have a desire for righteouness in their own lives, long to see
honesty, integrity and justice in society, practice set apart lifestyle. Their
lives being filled with Ruach of Mashiach their halak would be shiny testimony
for Mashiach is the Torat Chayim. (Luke 1:53)
5:7
the merciful are blessed...for they shall obtain Rachamim:
To be mercifiul means to be actively compassionate. To have forgiving spirit
(matt 18:21-35)
5:8 The Lev
Tahor( pure
in heart Psa
51:12) (Psa
24:4-5; Matt 6:21-24; James 1:8; 1Jn 3:2-3) conscience is clean, Kadosh
set apart living
5:9
Peacemakers they shall be call son of Elohim (אלהים)
is a person who love peace, orderly, not quarrel some, see to get thing right
(Rom
5:1; Eph 4:3; 2Cor 5:19-20; Eph 2:15-17)
5:10
Who are persecuted. The Kingdom of heaven is promised to those believers
who suffer for doing right. Their integrity condemns the ungodly world and brings
out its hostility. (Jn
15:18-20; 17:4; Rm 8:17; 1 Cor 4:13-14)
5:13
Salt of the earth
5:14
