A Trouble night

3:1על־משׁכבי בלילות בקשׁתי את שׁאהבה נפשׁי בקשׁתיו ולא מצאתיו׃

Al-mishkavi baleilot bikashti et sheahavah nafshi bikashtiv velo metzativ:

By night on my bed I sought him whom my nefesh loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

3:2אקומה נא ואסובבה בעיר בשׁוקים וברחבות אבקשׁה את שׁאהבה נפשׁי בקשׁתיו ולא מצאתיו׃

Akumah na vaasovvah vair bashvakim uvarkhovot avakshah et sheahavah nafshi bikashtiv velo metzativ:

I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my nefesh loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

3:3מצאוני השׁמרים הסבבים בעיר את שׁאהבה נפשׁי ראיתם׃

Metsauni hashomrim hasovvim bair et sheahavah nafshi reitem:

The shomrim (watchmen) that go about the city found me: [to whom I said], Saw ye him whom my nefesh loveth?

3:4כמעט שׁעברתי מהם עד שׁמצאתי את שׁאהבה נפשׁי אחזתיו ולא ארפנו עד־שׁהביאתיו אל־בית אמי ואל־חדר הורתי׃

Kimat sheavarti mehem ad shematzati et sheahavah nafshi akhaztiv velo arpenu ad-shehaveitiv el-beit imi veel-kheder horati:

[It was] but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

3:5 {Refrain}

השׁבעתי אתכם בנות ירושׁלם בצבאות או באילות השׂדה אם־תעירו ואם־תעוררו את־האהבה עד שׁתחפץ׃

Hishbati etkhem benot Yerushalayim bitzvaot o beailot hasadeh im-tairu veim-teorru et-haahavah ad shetekhpatz:

I charge you, O ye Daughters of Yerushalayim, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love, till he please.

3:6מי זאת עלה מן־המדבר כתימרות עשׁן מקטרת מור ולבונה מכל אבקת רוכל׃

Mi zot olah min-hamidbar ketimarot ashan mekuteret mor ulevona mikol avkat rokhel:

Who [is] this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and Levonah (frankincense), with all powders of the merchant?

3:7הנה מטתו שׁלשׁלמה שׁשׁים גברים סביב לה מגברי ישׂראל׃

Hineh mitato sheliShlomoh shishim giborim saviv lah migiborei Yisrael:

Behold his bed, which [is] Shlomoh's; threescore valiant men [are] about it, of the valiant of Yisrael.

3:8כלם אחזי חרב מלמדי מלחמה אישׁ חרבו על־ירכו מפחד בלילות׃

Kulam akhuzei kherev melumdei milkhamah ish kharbo al-yerekho mipakhad baleilot:

They all hold swords, [being] expert in war: every man [hath] his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.

3:9אפריון עשׂה לו המלך שׁלמה מעצי הלבנון׃

Apiryon asah lo haMelekh Shelomoh meatzei halevanon:

King Shelomoh made himself a chariot of the wood of Levanon.

3:10עמודיו עשׂה כסף רפידתו זהב מרכבו ארגמן תוכו רצוף אהבה מבנות ירושׁלם׃

Amudav asah khesef refidato zahav merkavo argaman tokho ratzuf ahavah mibanot Yerushalayim:

He made the pillars thereof [of] silver, the bottom thereof [of] gold, the covering of it [of] purple, the midst thereof being paved [with] love, for the Daughters of Yerushalayim.

3:11צאינה וראינה בנות ציון במלך שׁלמה בעטרה שׁעטרה־לו אמו ביום חתנתו וביום שׂמחת לבו׃

Tzeeinah ureeinah benot Tziyon baMelekh Shelomoh baatarah sheitra-lo imo beyom khatunato uveyom simkhat libo:

Go forth, O ye Daughters of Tzyon, and Behold King Shelomoh with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.
