64:1 Oh that you wouldest rend the heavens, that you wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at your presence,
64:2 As [when] the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, [that] the nations may tremble at your presence!
64:3 When you didst terrible things [which] we looked not for, you camest down, the mountains flowed down at your presence.
64:4 For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O Elohim (אלהים), beside you, [what] he has prepared for him that waiteth for him.
64:5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, [those that] remember you in your ways: behold, you art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
64:6 But we are all as an tamei [thing], and kol tzidkoteinu [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
64:7 And [there is] none that calleth upon Your Name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for you have hid thy face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.
64:8 But now, O ADONAI (יהוה), you [art] Avenu; we [are] the clay, and you our potter; and we all [are] the work of your hand.
64:9 Be not wroth very sore, O ADONAI (יהוה), neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech you, we [are] all thy people.
64:10 Thy set apart cities are a midbar, Tzyon is a midbar, Yerushalayim a desolation.
64:11 Our set apart and our beautiful house, where Avenus praised you, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
64:12 Wilt you refrain yourself for these [things], O ADONAI (יהוה)? wilt you hold your peace, and afflict us very sore?
