10:1 Then Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) took a vial of oil, and poured [it] upon his head, and kissed him, and said, [Is it] not because YEHOVAH (יהוה) has anointed your [to be] captain over his inheritance?
10:2 When you art departed from me to day, then you shall find two men by kevurat Rachel in the border of Benyamin at Tzeltzach; and they will say to your, The asses which you wentest to seek are found: and, Behold, your father has left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
10:3 Then shall you go on forward from thence, and you shall come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet your three men going up to Elohim (אלהים) to Beit-el, one carrying shloshet (3) gedayim (goat-kids), and another carrying shloshet kikrot (loaves) lechem, and another carrying a skin of wine:
10:4 And they will shalom greeting, and give your two [loaves] of lechem; which you shall receive of their hands.
10:5 After that you shall come to the Giveat (hill) Elohim (אלהים), where [is] the garrison of the Pelishtim : and it shall come to pass, when you art come thither to the city, that you shall meet a company of Neviim coming down from the high place with a nevel, and a tof (tambourine), and a khalil (flute), and a kinnor, before them; and they shall prophesy:
10:6 And the Ruach YEHOVAH (יהוה) will come upon your, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.
10:7 And let it be, when these signs are come to your, [that] you do as occasion serve thee; for Elohim (אלהים) [is] with your.
10:8 And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down to your, to offer Olot, [and] to sacrifice zivkhei (sacrifice) shelamim: seven days shall you tarry, till I come to your, and shew your what you shall do.
10:9 And it was [so], that when he had turned his back to go from Shemuel (שׁמוּאל), Elohim (אלהים) gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
10:10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of Neviim met him; and the Ruach Elohim (אלהים) came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
10:11 And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the Neviim, then the people said one to another, What [is] this [that] is come to the son of Kish? [Is] Sha'ul also among the Neviim?
10:12 And one of the same place answered and said, But who [is] their father? Therefore it became a proverb, [Is] Sha'ul also among the Neviim?
10:13 And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
10:14 And Sha'ul's uncle said to him and to his eved, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that [they were] no where, we came to Shemuel (שׁמוּאל).
10:15 And Sha'ul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray your, what Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said to you.
10:16 And Sha'ul said to his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) spoke, he told him not.
10:17 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) called the people together to YEHOVAH (יהוה) to Mitzpeh;
10:18 And said to the benai Yisrael, Thus said YEHOVAH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, I brought up Yisrael out of Mitzrayim, and delivered you out of the hand of the Mitzrites, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, [and] of them that oppressed you:
10:19 And ye have this day rejected your Elohim (אלהים), who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said to him, [Nay], but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before YEHOVAH (יהוה) by your tribes, and by your thousands.
10:20 And when Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) had caused all the tribes of Yisrael to come near, the tribe of Benyamin was taken.
10:21 When he had caused the tribe of Benyamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Sha'ul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.
10:22 Therefore they enquired of YEHOVAH (יהוה) further, if the man should yet come thither. And YEHOVAH (יהוה) answered, Behold, he has hid himself among the stuff.
10:23 And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
10:24 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said to all the people, See ye him whom YEHOVAH (יהוה) has chosen, that [there is] none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, Elohim (אלהים) save the king.
10:25 Then Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote [it] in a book, and laid [it] up before YEHOVAH (יהוה). And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) sent all the people away, every man to his house.
10:26 And Sha'ul also went home to Giveah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts Elohim (אלהים) had touched.
10:27 But the benai Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
