15:1 Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) also said unto Sha'ul:
YHWH (יהוה) sent me to anoint thee [to be] king over his people, over Yisrael: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the Divrei YHWH (יהוה).
15:2 Thus saith YHWH (יהוה) Tzva'ot:
I remember [that] which Amalek (עמלק) did to Yisrael, how he laid [wait] for him in the way, when he came up from Mitzrayim.
15:3 Now go and smite Amalek (עמלק), and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
15:4 And Sha'ul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Tela'im, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Yehudah.
15:5 And Sha'ul came to a city of Amalek (עמלק), and laid wait in the valley.
15:6 And Sha'ul said unto the Kenites:
Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalek (עמלק), lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the benai Yisrael, when they came up out of Mitzrayim. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalek (עמלק).
15:7 And Sha'ul smote the Amalek (עמלק) from Havilah [until] thou comest to Shur, that [is] over against Mitzrayim.
15:8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalek (עמלק) alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
15:9
But Sha'ul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the
sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and
all [that was] good, and would not utterly destroy them: but
every thing [that was] vile and refuse, that they destroyed
utterly.
15:10 Then came the Dvar YHWH (יהוה) unto Shemuel (שׁמוּאל), saying:
It repenteth Me that I have set up Sha'ul [to be] king: for he is turned back from following Me, and hath not performed my commandments.
And it grieved Shemuel (שׁמוּאל); and he cried unto YHWH (יהוה) all night.
15:12 And when Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) rose early to meet Sha'ul in the morning, it was told Shemuel (שׁמוּאל), saying, Sha'ul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
15:13 And Shemuel(שׁמוּאל) came to Sha'ul: and
Sha'ul said unto him:
Baruch atah la YHWH (יהוה):
ha kimoti et Devar YHWH (יהוה).
And Shemuel(שׁמוּאל) said:
What [meaneth] then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
And Sha'ul said:
They have brought them from the Amalek
(עמלק):
for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen,
to
sacrifice unto YHWH (יהוה) Eloheicha; and the rest we have utterly
destroyed.
15:16 Then Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said unto Sha'ul:
Stay, and I will tell thee what YHWH (יהוה) hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
15:17 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said, When thou [wast] little in thine own sight, [wast] thou not [made] the head of the tribes of Yisrael, and YHWH (יהוה) anointed thee king over Yisrael?
15:18 And YHWH (יהוה) sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalek (עמלק), and fight against them until they be consumed.
15:19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of YHWH (יהוה), but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of YHWH (יהוה)?
15:20 And Sha'ul said unto Shemuel (שׁמוּאל), Yea, I have obeyed the voice of YHWH (יהוה), and have gone the way which YHWH (יהוה) sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek (עמלק), and have utterly destroyed the Amalek (עמלק).
15:21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto YHWH (יהוה) Eloheicha in Gilgal.
And Shemuel(שׁמוּאל) said:
Hath YHWH (יהוה) [as great] delight in Olot and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of YHWH (יהוה)?
Behold, to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and] to hearken than the fat of rams.
For rebellion [is as]
the sin of witchcraft, and
stubbornness [is as] iniquity and
idolatry.
Because thou hast rejected Dvar YHWH (יהוה), He hath also rejected thee from [being] king.
Acts 5:29 Then Kefa and the other Send ones answered and said, We ought to obey Elohim rather than men. the problem of "keep back " - coveteousness
15:24 And Sha'ul said unto Shemuel (שׁמוּאל):
I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of YHWH (יהוה), and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
15:25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship YHWH (יהוה).
15:26 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said unto Sha'ul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the Dvar YHWH (יהוה), and YHWH (יהוה) hath rejected thee from being king over Yisrael.
15:27 And as Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
15:28 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) said unto him:
YHWH (יהוה) hath rent the kingdom of Yisrael from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, [that is] better than thou.
15:29 And also the Strength of Yisrael will not lie nor repent: for he [is] not a man, that he should repent.
15:30 Then he said, I have sinned: [yet] honour me now, I pray thee, before the Ziknei Ami (my people), and before Yisrael, and turn again with me, that I may worship YHWH (יהוה) Eloheicha.
15:31 So Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) turned again after Sha'ul; and Sha'ul worshipped YHWH (יהוה).
Then said Shemuel (שׁמוּאל):
Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalek (עמלק).
And Agag came unto him confidently.
And Agag said:
"Surely the bitterness of death is past."
And Shemuel(שׁמוּאל) said:
As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women.
And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) shasaf (hewed, cut) Agag in pieces before YHWH (יהוה) in Gilgal.
15:34 Then Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) went to Ramah; and Sha'ul went up to his bayit to Giveah of Sha'ul.
15:35 And Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) came no more to see Sha'ul until the day of his death: nevertheless Shemuel (שׁמוּאל) mourned for Sha'ul: and YHWH (יהוה) repented that he had made Sha'ul king over Yisrael.
This is second mistake that Shaul made. He has
fail in the second chance Shaul's weakness was that he lack of leadership, his
heart was not right, we do not know if he participate in the covet items deem
for destruction or if he was a menpleasers. He could have obey Hashem,
he could have make teshuvah by doing what is right in eyes of Hashem and
win back His kingdom which he did not wait for Navi Shemuel but to go ahead
with the sacrifice. Worse of all in vs 15 he even use those items meant for
destruction to use as a
sacrifice
to Hashem
Navi Shemuel did rejoice at the failures of Shaul, we see in vs 11 Navi Shemuel was grieved and he cried unto Hashem.
