From Shavuot to the teshuvah of Sha'ul

The Ruach sent from Heaven

(Yochanan (יוחנן) 7:37-39; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13)

2:1 And when the Yom Shavuot (Pentekoste) was fully come, they were all with ONE accord in ONE place.

2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind, and it filled whole house where they are sitting.

2:3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues (glossa) like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

2:4 And they were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh, and began to speak with other tongues (glossa), as the Ruach gave them utterance.

2:5 And there were dwelling at Yerushalayim Yehudim, devout men, out of every nation under shamayim.

2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own dialektos (native language).

2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Hinnei, are not all these which speak Galilaios?

2:8 And how hear we every man in our own dialektos (native language), wherein we were born?

2:9 Parthos, and Medos, and Elamites, and the inhabitants in Mesopotamia, and in Y'huda, and Kappadokia, in Pontos, and Asia,

2:10 Phrugia, and Pamphulia, in Mitzrayim (Aigutos), and in the parts of Libue about Kurene, and strangers of Rhomaios, Yehudim and proselytes,

2:11 Kres (Cretes) and Arabians (Yishmaelites), we do hear them speak in our language (glossa) the wonderful works of Elohim (אלהים).

2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

2:14 But Kefa (פטרוס), standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them:

You men of Yehudah, and all [ye] that dwell at Yerushalayim, be this known to you, and hearken to my words:

2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is [but] the third hour of the day.

2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the navi Yoel: Yoel 2:28 - 32

2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, said Elohim (אלהים), I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Ruach; and they shall prophesy:

2:19 And I will shew wonders in shamayim above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable Yom  ADONAI (יהוה)   come:

2:21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the Name of ADONAI (יהוה) shall be saved.

2:22 You men of Yisrael, hear these Words; Yeshua (ישוע) of Natzeret, a man approved of Elohim (אלהים) among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which Elohim (אלהים) did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of Elohim (אלהים), ye have taken, and by wicked hands have impaled and slain:

2:24 Whom Elohim (אלהים) has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

2:25 For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw Adonai always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongues (glossa) was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in tikvah:

2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Kadosh One to see corruption.

2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of chayim; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

2:29 Men [and] brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us to this day.

2:30 Therefore being a navi, and knowing that Elohim (אלהים) had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Mashiach to sit on his throne;

2:31 He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Mashiach, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

2:32 This Yeshua (ישוע) has Elohim (אלהים) raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of Elohim (אלהים) exalted, and having received of Ha Avi the promise of the Ruach HaKodesh, he has shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

2:34 For David is not ascended into the heaven: but he said himself, Adonai said to my Master, Sit thou on my right hand,

2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

2:36 Therefore let all the bayit of Yisrael know assuredly, that Elohim (אלהים) has made that same Yeshua (ישוע), whom ye have impaled, both Master and Mashiach.

2:37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said to Kefa (פטרוס) and to the rest of the shlichim, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?

2:38 Then Kefa (פטרוס) said to them, Teshuvah, and be immersed every one of you in the Name of Yeshua (ישוע) Mashiach for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Ruach HaKodesh.

2:39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as Adonai Eloheinu shall call.

2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort,

saying:"Be saved yourselves from this perverse generation!"

2:41 Then they that gladly received his dvar were immersed: and the same day there were added [to them] about three thousand souls.

2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the shlichim' Torah and chavurah, and in breaking of lechem, and in tefillot (* 3 times daily).

2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the shlichim.

2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all [men], as every man had need.

2:46 And day by day, continuing with ONE ACCORD in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

2:47  Praising to Elohim (אלהים), and having favour with all the people. And Adonai added to the assembly daily such as should be saved.

From the Barley Harvest to the Wheat Harvest

The Torah commands us to count the days of the Omer. On the day after the Sabbath during the week of the Festival of Unleavened Bread—the day on which the first fruits of the barley were harvested and offered up in the Temple—we are commanded to begin a countdown to the next festival. We were instructed to count 49 days and upon their completion, the fiftieth day is the appointed time of the Festival of Pentecost. The English word for Pentecost means 50 derived from Greek.
At Shavuot, the first fruits of the wheat harvest were brought to the Temple and baked into two loaves of leavened bread. Between the interim 49 days is known as "the counting of the Omer"
On day one begins the harvest of a single barley sheaf (omer) and day forty-nine concludes the harvest of the wheat sheaves. In addition to wheat, the pilgrims celebrating Shavuot brought with them the first fruits of all their crops and offered them before the altar.
