4:1 And while they were speaking to the people, the Kohenim, and the Sar Tzeva haHeikel, and the Tzedukim (Saddoukaios), came upon them,
4:2 Being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Yehoshua (יהושע) the resurrection of the dead.
4:3 And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day for it was already evening.
4:4 However, many of those who heard the Word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
4:5 Now it came to pass, on the next day, that their authorities, and Zekenim, and Sofrim (grammateus) were assembled together at Yerushalayim,
4:6 And Hanan Kohen HaGadol, and Kayafas, and Yochanan (יוחנן), and Alexandros, and all who were the mishpokhah Kohen HaGadol, were assembled together at Yerushalayim.
4:7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have you done this?
4:8 Then Kefa (פטרוס), filled with the Ruach HaKodesh, said to them, you authorities of the people, and Zekenim of Yisra’ĕl,
4:9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
4:10 Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Yisra’ĕl, that by the Name of Yehoshua (יהושע) Mashiach of Natzeret, whom you executed on a stake, whom Elohim (אלהים) raised from the dead, [even] by *Him* this man stand here before you whole.
4:11 This is:
Even maasu habonim haitah leRosh Pinah:
"The STONE which was rejected by you, the builders, which became the HEAD OF CORNER."
4:12 Salvation is found in no one else:
For there is neither is there any other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
4:13 Now when they saw the boldness (parresia) of Kefa (פטרוס) and Yochanan (יוחנן), and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled; and they had realized that they had been with Yehoshua (יהושע).
4:14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against them.
4:15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the Sanhedrin, they conferred among themselves,
4:16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle have been done by them [is] manifest to all them that dwell in Yerushalayim; and we cannot deny [it].
4:17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us strictly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
4:18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in The Name of Yehoshua (יהושע).
4:19 But Kefa (פטרוס) and Yochanan (יוחנן) answered and said to them, Whether it be right in the sight of Elohim (אלהים) to hearken to you more than to Elohim (אלהים), judge you.
4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
4:21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all [men] glorified Elohim (אלהים) for that which was done.
4:22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was showed.
The believers again filled with the Ruach
4:23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief Kohenim and zekenim had said to them.
4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to Elohim (אלהים) with one accord, and said, YEHOVAH (יהוה), you [art] Elohim (אלהים), which hast made shamayim, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
4:25 Who by the mouth of your servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
4:26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against YEHOVAH (יהוה), and against his Mashiach.
4:27 For of a truth against your set apart child Yehoshua (יהושע), whom you hast anointed, both Herodes, and Pontios Pilatos, with the Goyim, and the people of Yisra’ĕl, were gathered together,
4:28 For to do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.
4:29 And now, YEHOVAH (יהוה), hinnei their threatenings: and grant to your servants, that with all boldness they may speak your dvar,
4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your set apart child Yehoshua (יהושע).
4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh, and they spoke the Dvar Elohim (אלהים) with boldness.
Willingness to share among believers at Yerushalayim
4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of ONE heart and of ONE soul (nefesh): neither said any [of them] that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
4:33 And with great power gave the shlichim witness of the resurrection of Adonay Yehoshua (יהושע): and great grace was upon them all.
4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
4:35 And laid [them] down at the shlichim' feet: and distribution was made to every man according as he had need.
4:36 And Yosef, who by the shlichim was surnamed Bar-Nabas (נביא-בּר), (which is, being interpreted, the son of consolation,) a Leviim, [and] of the country of Kuprios,
4:37 Having land, sold [it], and brought the money, and laid [it] at the shlichim' feet.
Yosef - Joses - Ioses - son of Bar-Nabas -Βαρνάβας name as in Chaldee or Aramaic origin Bar - Son - Nabas as in Nebiy meaning related to Hebrew meaning as prophets is one who consolation, comfort, encouragement, exhortation, refreshment, calling by, one who encourages others, next verse 37 tell us that he owned a field, sold it and brought the money and put it at the shlichim's feet.
Bar-Nabas was one of very few Kohanim or Levites family had hitherto being Messianic and he was born in Kuprious, an island in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. He came to Yerushalayim perhaps because his cousin Markos and aunt Miriyam (the mother of Markos) lived there (Acts 12:12, and Kolose 4:10).
Although the Torah of Mosheh prohibited the Levites from owning property (Bamidbar 18:20; Devarim 10:9), we have no confirmation whether Levites in dispersion observed this ordinance.
