9:1 I say the truth in the Mashiach, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in Ruach Ha Kodesh,
9:2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from ha Mashiach for my Achim (Brethren), my kinsmen according to the flesh:
9:4 Who are Yisraelites; to whom [pertains] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the Torah, and the service [of Elohim (אלהים)], and the promises;
9:5 Whose [are] the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh ha Mashiach [came], who is over all, Elohim (אלהים) blessed le olam vaed. Amein.
9:6 Not as though the word of Elohim (אלהים) has taken none effect. For they [are] not all Yisrael, which are of Yisrael:
9:7 Neither, because they are the zerah of Avraham, [are they] all children: but, in Yitzchak shall your zerah be called.
9:8 That is, They which are the benai the flesh, these [are] not the benai Elohim (אלהים): but the benai the promise are counted for the zerah.
9:9 For this [is] the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
9:10 And not only [this]; but when Rivkah also had conceived by one, [even] by Yitzchak Avinu;
9:11 (For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of Elohim (אלהים) according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calls;)
9:12 It was said to her (Rivkah):
The elder shall serve the younger.
9:13 As it is written:
Yaakov have I loved, but Esav have I hated.
9:14 What shall we say then? [Is there] unrighteousness with Elohim (אלהים)? Chalilah (Far be it).
9:15
For HE said to Mosheh:
9:16 So then [it is] not of him that wills, nor of him who runs, but of Elohim (אלהים) that shows mercy.
9:17
For the scripture said to Paroh:
9:18 Therefore has he mercy on whom he will [have mercy], and whom he will he hardens.
9:19 You will say then to me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will?
9:20 Nay but, O man, who are you that replies against Elohim (אלהים)? shall the thing formed say to him that formed [it], Why have you made me thus?
9:21 has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour?
9:22 [What] if Elohim (אלהים), willing to show [his] wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
9:23 And that he might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared to glory,
9:24 Even us, whom he has called, not of the Yehudim only, but also of the Goyim?
9:25 As HE said also in Hoshea:
I will call them Ami (my people), which were Lo-Ami (not my people); and her Ruchamah (beloved), which was Lo-Ruchama (not beloved).
9:26 And it shall come to pass, [that] in the place where it was said to them, Ye [are] Lo-Ami (not my people); there shall they be called the benai the living Elohim (אלהים).
9:27 Yeshayahu also crieth concerning Yisrael:
Though the number of the benai Yisrael be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut [it] short in tzedakah: because a short work will Adonay make upon ha eretz.
9:29 And as Yeshayahu said before:
Except Adonay of Tz'vaot had left us a zerah, we had been as Sedom, and been made like to Amora.
9:30 What shall we say then? That the Goyim, which followed not after tzedakah, have attained to tzedakah, even the tzedakah which is of faith.
9:31 But Yisrael, which followed after the Torah of tzedakah, has not attained to the Torah of tzedakah.
9:32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the Torah. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
9:33 As it is written:
Behold, I lay in Tzyon a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.
