14:1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to Davyid, and timber of cedars, with mabanim and carpenters, to build him an bayit.
14:2 And Davyid perceived that YHWH (יהוה) had confirmed him king over Yisra'el, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Yisra'el.
14:3 And Davyid took more wives at Yerushalayim: and Davyid begat more banim and banot.
14:4 Now these [are] the names of [his] children which he had in Yerushalayim; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Shlomo,
14:5 And Yivchar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
14:6 And Nogah, and Nefeg, and Yafia,
14:7 And Elishama, and Beelyada, and Elifalet.
14:8 And when the P'lishtim heard that Davyid was anointed king over all Yisra'el, all the P'lishtim went up to seek Davyid. And Davyid heard [of it], and went out against them.
14:9 And the P'lishtim came and spread themselves in the valley of Refaim.
14:10 And Davyid enquired of Elohim (אלהים), saying, Shall I go up against the P'lishtim? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And YHWH (יהוה) said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
14:11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and Davyid smote them there. Then Davyid said, Elohim (אלהים) hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.
14:12 And when they had left their gods there, Davyid gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
14:13 And the P'lishtim yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14:14 Therefore Davyid enquired again of Elohim (אלהים); and Elohim (אלהים) said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
14:15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, [that] then thou shalt go out to battle: for Elohim (אלהים) is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the P'lishtim.
14:16 Davyid therefore did as Elohim (אלהים) commanded him: and they smote the host of the P'lishtim from Gibeon even to Gazer.
14:17 And the fame of Davyid went out into all lands; and YHWH (יהוה) brought the fear of him upon all nations.
