18:1 Now after this it came to pass, that Davyid smote the P'lishtim, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the P'lishtim.
18:2 And he smote Moav; and the Moavites became Davyid's servants, [and] brought gifts.
18:3 And Davyid smote Hadarezer melekh of Zovah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Eufrates.
18:4 And Davyid took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: Davyid also houghed all the chariot [horses], but reserved of them an hundred chariots.
18:5 And when the Syrians of Demesek came to help Hadarezer melekh of Zobah, Davyid slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
18:6 Then Davyid put [garribanim] in Syria Demesek; and the Syrians became Davyid's servants, [and] brought gifts. Thus YHWH (יהוה) preserved Davyid whithersoever he went.
18:7 And Davyid took the shi'elds of zahav that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Yerushalayim.
18:8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought Davyid very much nechoshet (brass; bronze), wherewith Sholomo made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the kelim (vessels) of nechoshet (brass; bronze).
18:9 Now when Tou melekh of Hamath heard how Davyid had smitten all the host of Hadarezer melekh of Zovah;
18:10 He sent Hadoram beno to melekh Davyid, to enquire of his w'elfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and [with him] all manner of kelim (vessels) of zahav and kesef and nechoshet (brass; bronze).
18:11 Them also melekh Davyid dedicated unto YHWH (יהוה), with the kesef and the zahav that he brought from all [these] nations; from Edom, and from Moav, and from benai Ammon, and from the P'lishtim, and from Amalek.
18:12 Moreover Avishai Ben Zeru'yah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
18:13 And he put garribanim in Edom; and all the Edomites became Davyid's avadim. Thus YHWH (יהוה) preserved Davyid whithersoever he went.
18:14 So Davyid reigned over all Yisra'el, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
18:15 And Yo'av Ben Zeru'yah [was] over the host; and Yehoshafat Ben Ahilud, recorder.
18:16 And Tzadok Ben Ahituv, and Avimelech Ben Aviathar, [were] the kohenim; and Shavsha was scribe;
18:17 And Bena'yah Ben Yehoyada [was] over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and Benai Davyid [were] chief about the melekh.
