Military and Governmental leaders

27:1 Now benai Yisra'el after their number, [to wit], the chief avot and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the melekh in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:2 Over the first course for the first month [was] Yashoveam Ben Zavdi'el: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:3 Of benai Perez [was] the chief of all Sarim ha tzava for the first month.

27:4 And over the course of the second month [was] Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course [was] Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:5 The third captain of the host for the third month [was] Bena'yah Ben Yehoyada, a Kohen Rosh: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:6 This [is that] Bena'yah, [who was] mighty [among] the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course [was] Ammizabad beno.

27:7 The fourth [captain] for the fourth month [was] Asah'el the achi Yo'av, and Zebad'yah beno after him: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:8 The fifth captain for the fifth month [was] Shamhuth the Yitzrahite: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:9 The sixth [captain] for the sixth month [was] Ira Ben Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:10 The seventh [captain] for the seventh month [was] H'elez the Pelonite, of benai Efrayim: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:11 The eighth [captain] for the eighth month [was] Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:12 The ninth [captain] for the ninth month [was] Aviezer the Anetothite, of the Benyamites: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:13 The tenth [captain] for the tenth month [was] Maharai the Netofathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:14 The eleventh [captain] for the eleventh month [was] Bena'yah the Pirathonite, of benai Efrayim: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:15 The twelfth [captain] for the twelfth month [was] H'eldai the Netofathite, of Otni'el: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.

27:16 Furthermore over the Shivtei Yisra'el: the ruler of the Reuvenites [was] Eliezer Ben Zichri: of the Shimeonites, Shefat'yah Ben Maachah:

27:17 Of the Leviim, Hashav'yah Ben Kemu'el: of the Aharonites, Tzadok:

27:18 Of Yehudah, Elihu, [one] of the achim of Davyid: of Yissakar, Omri Ben Mikha'el:

27:19 Of Zevulun, Yishma'yah Ben Obad'yah: of Naftali, Yerimot Ben Azri'el:

27:20 Of benai Efrayim, Hoshea Ben Azaz'yah: of the half shevet (tribe) of Menasheh, Yo'el Ben Peda'yah:

27:21 Of the half [shevet (tribe)] of Menasheh in Gil'ad , Iddo Ben Zekar'yah: of Benyamin, Yaasi'el Ben Avner:

27:22 Of Dan, Azare'el Ben Yeroham. These [were] the sarim of the Shivtei Yisra'el.

27:23 But Davyid took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because YHWH (יהוה) had said he would increase Yisra'el like to the stars of the heavens.

27:24 Yo'av Ben Zeru'yah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Yisra'el; neither was the number put in the akkount of the chronicles of melekh Davyid.

Overseers logistic or domestic needs and welfare(27:25-31)

27:25 And over the melekh's treasures [was] Azmaveth Ben Adi'el: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, [was] Yehonatan Ben Uzz'yah:

27:26 And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground [was] Ezri Ben Cheluv:

27:27 And over the vineyards [was] Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the yayin (wine) c'ellars [was] Zabdi the Shifmite:

27:28 And over the olive trees and the sykomore trees that [were] in the low plains [was] Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of shemen [was] Yo'ash:

27:29 And over the herds that fed in Sharon [was] Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds [that were] in the valleys [was] Shafat Ben Adlai:

27:30 Over the camels also [was] Obil the Yishma'elite: and over the asses [was] Yehde'yah the Meronothite:

27:31 And over the flocks [was] Yaziz the Hagerite. All these [were] the rulers of the substance which [was] melekh Davyid's.

27:32 Also Yonathan Davyid's uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Yehi'el Ben Hachmoni [was] with the melekh's banim:

27:33 And Ahithof'el [was] the melekh's couns'ellor: and Hushai the Archite [was] the melekh's companion:

27:34 And after Ahithof'el [was] Yehoyada Ben Bena'yah, and Aviyatar: and the general of the melekh's army [was] Yo'av.

The army similar  the Leviim, served in divisions. 24,000 men were on duty each month. All the commanders are listed among Davyid's mighty men (chap 11 and 2 Shemuel 23)

ha shevatim (shevet (tribe)s) are listed in a designed order. First listed are Benai Leah, in their proper order. Then ha banim Rachel. While Benai Bilhah are given ( but not in chronological order. Those 20 years and under were not recorded in the census that Davyid had order (27:23, 24). The census was never completed because the wrath of YHWH fell before Yo'av finished. Davyid perfaps ashamed of his sin, order that the results of the ill-fated census should not be put in the public records.

*Ahithofel king's counsellor - It is sad story is given in 2 Shemuel 15 and 17. He was a man of high privilege but low personality, self-seeking opportunist

*Hushai the Archite ha melekhs friend, self-effacing servant

*Each one reaped what he had sown (see 2 Shemuel 15-17). Both served ha melekh, but each had different motives. The opportunist works for his own glory
