24:1 Now [these are] the divisions of Benai Aharon. Benai Aharon; Nadav, and Avihu, Eli'ezer, and Itamar.
24:2 But Nadav and Avihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eli'ezer and Itamar executed the kohen's office.
24:3 And Davyid distributed them, both Tzadok of Benai Eli'ezer, and Achimelekh of Benai Itamar, according to their offices in their avodah (service).
24:4 And there were more chief men found of Benai Eli'ezer than of Benai Itamar; and [thus] were they divided. Among Benai Eli'ezer [there were] sixteen chief men of the Beit [their] avot, and eight among Benai Itamar according to the Beit their avot.
24:5 Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors [of the house] of Elohim (אלהים), were of Benai Eli'ezer, and of Benai Itamar.
24:6 And Shemayah Ben Netan'el the scribe, [one] of the Leviim, wrote them before ha melekh, and the princes, and Tzadok the Kohen, and Achimelekh Ben Aviatar, and [before] the sarei ha'avot of the Kohanim and Leviim:
one principal household being taken for Eli'ezer, and
[one] taken for Itamar.
The casting lots of the Division of 24 Kohenim
24:7 Now the first goral (lot) came forth to Yehoiariv,
the second to Yedayah,
the fourth to Seorim,
the sixth to Miyamin,
the tenth to Shecanyah,
24:12 The eleventh to Eliashiv,
the twelfth to Yakim,
24:13 The thirteenth to Huppah,
the fourteenth to Yeshev'av,
24:14 The fifteenth to Bilgah,
the sixteenth to Immer,
24:15 The seventeenth to Hetzir,
the eighteenth to HaPitzetz,
24:16 The nineteenth to Petahyah,
the twentieth to Yehezekel,
24:17 The twenty-first to Yakhin,
the Twenty-Second to Gamul,
24:18 The twenty-third to Delayah,
the twenty-fourth to Maazyah.
24:19 These [were] the orderings of them in their avodah (service) to come into the Beit YHWH (יהוה), according to their manner, under Aharon their father, as YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael had commanded him.
24:20 And the rest of Benai Levi [were these]:
Of Benai Amram; Shuva'el: of Benai Shuva'el; Yehdeyah.
24:21 Concerning Rehavyah:
of Benai Rehavyah, the first [was] Yisshyah.
24:22 Of the Yitzarites; Shlomot: of Benai Shlomot; Yahat.
24:23 And Benai [of Chevron]; Yeryah [the first], Amaryah the second, Yahaziel the third, Yekameam the fourth.
24:24 [Of] Benai Uzziel; Michah: of Benai Michah; Shamir.
24:25 The brother of Michah [was] Yishiyah: of Benai Yishiyah; Zekaryah.
24:26 Benai Merari [were] Mahli and Mushi: Benai Yaazyah; Beno.
24:27 Benai Merari by Yaazyah; Beno, and Shoham, and Zakkur, and Ivri.
24:28 Of Mahli [came] Eli'ezer, who had no banim.
24:29 Concerning Kish: Benai Kish [was] Yerachme'el.
24:30 Benai also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Yerimot. These [were] Benai the Leviim after the Beit their avot.
24:31 These likewise cast goralot over against their achim Benai Aharon in the presence of Davyid ha melekh, and Tzadok, and Achimelekh, and the sarei ha'avot of the Kohanim and Leviim, even the principal avot over against their younger achim.
